A Project Plan will help your team get organized and develop a realistic approach and schedule for completing an acquisition. It follows the Seven Step Service Acquisition Process and contains detailed sub-steps that describe tasks that should be accomplished. A Project Plan also includes a resource management component to identify who you need and when you will need them.

The Project Plan in MS Excel format, sometimes called a Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAM), uses a method of planning called RACI that designates who is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed about each task by assigning people (by name) for each of these categories. The MFT manages its activities in accordance with the Schedule and POAM, documenting the actual performance against due dates established in the POAM.
