High-Level Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) Planning Tool
Step 7 is where the PMO/IPT members review all the data rights markings for each data delivered by the CDRL. This includes both digital and printed media. Note, for computer software source code, every software line of code should be scanned to ensure the markings are proper (justified and conforming).
The IPT members should review all data right markings prior to accepting any data deliverable. This review should occur as soon as the data are delivered and before acceptance; a program’s leverage to achieve correction of nonconforming or unjustified markings decreases after acceptance of a deliverable. Once a data deliverable is accepted, resolution of nonconforming and unjustified markings can be difficult and burdensome. The personnel responsible for inspecting the deliverable should notify the DoD contracting officer that the deliverables include nonconforming and or unjustified markings.
The two links as shown below provide a notional process to review the data rights markings on both noncommercial technical data and computer software source code.
