DCMA learners should use Edge as their browser. Follow instructions to access documents, watch a video, and participate in an interactive scenario and a learning forum. Download documents to a DCMA Orientation folder that you create so that you can use them later as resources when you perform the work.
Why do you think this mantra rings true? Reflect on your experience. Consider how you and other members of the multifunctional team can work well together to prepare for contract closeout.
Contract receipt and review (CRR) and surveillance activities impact the contract closeout process. Each step of contract administration services (CAS) feeds the next, so it is important for you to understand that what you do—or fail to do—in any phase of CAS may impact another phase. Errors and omissions made during CRR or not properly documenting surveillance activities that impact contractual terms (for example, engineering change proposal) can pointedly impact an administrative contracting officer's (ACO's) ability to close out a contract on time.
A successful contract closeout ensures:
Per the policy, a contract is considered closed when all administrative actions, including final payment, have been completed and all disputes have been settled and achieved within the FAR-mandated time standard.
Watch the Voices of Experience video to hear the multifunctional team emphasize how its daily actions impact contract closeout. They talk about relying on each other as they share stories of challenges and successes.

Once again, it's time to hear from our fictitious contractor, Independent Projectiles. Karlee talks to Fran about the resources that support this work, timeframes, and actions performed by members of the team. They share stories about successful and challenging closeouts so that you can benefit from their experiences and be prepared for barriers and delays. Use what you learn in this scenario when you conduct your first contract closeout!

Schedule your individual networking meetings when you are ready to perform contract closeout.
Learn from each other. Share ideas, answer thought-provoking questions, and develop critical thinking skills as you journey with this community during your first months at DCMA. Access the networking learning forum and post responses for your assignment.
We hope that your DCMA orientation helped you to understand the highlights of what you will do and why your actions are so important to supporting DCMA's mission. The learning doesn't end today. Keep asking, sharing, and learning. Talk to your teammates, other peers, your FLS, the contractor, and the buying commands. Use these DCMA orientation resources to refresh your knowledge and also when you are ready to perform your work. Don't forget to schedule two networking meetings with more experienced functional specialists.
We realize that the work we expect you to do takes practice and collaboration with the multifunctional team. You are about to play an important role in building and sustaining this culture!
